Adventure Education
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of
all our exploring,
Will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first
time.
- TS Eliot
Physical Education, Health and Recreation graduate students in this concentration are able to specialize in a wide variety of outdoor pursuits. Students complete challenge course certification training as well as learn challenge course management skills. Additionally, students are required to plan and provide field trips for K-12 students within an educational setting. Students also review the most current research and trends in outdoor pursuits/adventure education. The emphasis of this program is trip planning and curriculum development in public schools. Expedition planning and extended programming is beyond the scope of this concentration. Past classes have included; rock climbing in Colorado, Sea Kayaking on Lake Superior, Canoeing in the boundry waters and Anchor Schools at Devil's Lake. We truly believe in making physical education an adventure!
