Master of Science in Community Health Education
The Master of Science in Community Health Education prepares professionals to administer and develop health education programs, to implement health education processes and concepts, to understand current health issues, and to hone skills appropriate to current or projected career goals. Students are encouraged to tailor coursework to their particular interests and the health issues specific to their professional responsibilities. This is a non-thesis degree in which a student completes a four-credit "Graduate Project in Health Education" related to a focused health education/health promotion issue.
Graduates Are Prepared To:
- assess individual and community health needs
- plan effective health education and health promotion programs
- implement and evaluate educational experiences
- coordinate and manage the provisions of health education services
- serve as a resource in health education
- communicate health and health education needs, concerns and resources
- conduct health education and health promotion research

- public health agencies
- volunteer and private agencies
- hospitals and other health care settings
- local, state, and national governmental agencies
- business and industrial settings

Admission Requirements
The following requirements must be satisfied in order to be admitted into the Master of Science degree program in Community Health Education.
- Students must receive acceptance to graduate study in health education and health promotion form the Graduate Admissions Office. The letter of acceptance from the Graduate Admissions Office may include an evaluation of previous academic work including deficiencies and/or specific prerequisite program requirements.
- Applicants must be granted Unconditional admission to graduate study (a 2.85 GPA or above will satisfy grade point requirement), or must be admitted "on probation" to graduate study.
- Students must complete deficiencies as determined by the health education and health promotion graduate faculty.
Note:
All deficiencies and/or special prerequisites must be satisfied before
the student has accumulated 12 graduate credits. Students have the
option of completing these requirements prior to attending the
university or prior to the accumulation of 12 graduate credits.
