Preparing for the PRAXIS I/Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)
Best time to take the PPST
New Freshmen--During or shortly after the first year of enrollment
(i.e. summer after the freshman year)
Advanced Students--as soon as possible

Work through a PPST Study Manual--available from most booksellers and at
Murphy Library
Receive tutoring from a counselor--contact the UW-L Counseling and
Testing Center
Satisfactory completion of the following courses may assist with
preparation for the PPST--ENG 110, MTH 050/051/150, ENG 303/306
Take advantage of any options made available for students with a
disability or in the TRIO program
What if I do not pass the
test or a section of the test?
Revisit the strategies for preparation listed above (If at first you
don't succeed, try, try again)
If you have passed two sections of the PPST and have failed the
third section twice, see the Assistant to the Dean to discuss your
situation.
Consult with the Disability Resource Services office to determine
whether a disability might be involved--165 Murphy Library, 785-6900
