Graduate Assistantships in Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation
Each academic year the Department of Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation has a limited number of graduate assistantships. These are paid positions within the Department for graduate students to work side by side with faculty on teaching and/or research projects. A student must carry at least nine (9) credits and be in good standing to be eligible.
The application process for an assistantship is separate from application for admissions.

Policies Regulating Graduate Assistantships:
- Unless indicated differently on the application, submissions must be received by March 1 for the following fall semester. Decisions regarding graduate assistantships occur only once a year in March.
- Decisions regarding graduate assistantship awards are made only after the applicant has been unconditionally admitted to a UW-L graduate program. Unconditional admittance requires a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.8 on a four-point scale or a GPA of at least 3.0 for the last four semesters. Students admitted on probation or placed on probation while at UW-L are not eligible for graduate assistantships.
- Most graduate assistantships involve 14 hours of weekly professional responsibilities.
