What causes molluscum?
Mollucsum is caused by molluscum contagiosum virus.
How is molluscum transmitted?
Mollucuscum is transmitted by contact, touching an infected persons lesions
can transmit cells containing the virus.
What are the signs
or symptoms of molluscum?
Small, round lesions with a shinny surface and a white material inside
lesions located on genital skin, thighs, abdomen and chest. Lesions
may itch.
What treatment is available?
Cryo therapy, scraping, chemicals
How can molluscum be prevented?
Barrier methods (condoms) are partially protective. Total absence of
touching any infected tissue will avoid transmission. |
