Services we offer
Our highly-trained health-care team provide students with convenient, accessible, comprehensive, high-quality and low-cost health care. The following are general descriptions of the services provided by the Student Health Center.
Individual counseling provides the opportunity to talk confidentially about anything you want and to get help in solving problems, addressing relationship issues, resolving a personal crisis, and addressing issues of depression, anxiety, stress, eating disorders and sexual assault.
Acute medical needs may be addressed via scheduled or walk-in appointments during office hours. The screening clinic is operated by our highly-trained staff on a first-come, first-served basis.
Allergy injections may be arranged at the Health Center when the allergens and written orders are supplied by the student's personal physician or allergist. Students are required to make an appointment with a Student Health Center provider before beginning allergy injections. All orders must be updated annually. There is a $5.00 administrative fee per visit for this service.
Consultation & Referral
With the student's permission, consultations and referrals can be made with several on or off campus resources. The student's personal health care provider, local clinics and hospitals, the Dean of Students, the Counseling and Testing Center, Disability Resource Services, the Athletics department, the office of International Education, the office of Residence Life and/or the County Health Department can all be contacted.
Gynecological & Reproductive Services
Services include annual examinations, PAP testing, contraceptive services, and genitourinary care. For information about contraceptives available for purchase click here.
HIV & STD
Confidential HIV & STD testing is available at the Student Health Center.
The Student Health Center offers a variety of immunizations to help students meet departmental and college requirements and to prepare for international travel. For more information regarding types of immunizations available click here.
Laboratory services include routine blood counts, blood chemistries, urinalysis, cultures, STD, PAP, pregnancy, and HIV testing. A minimal charge is assessed for some testing. Students will be informed of charges prior to testing. In addition to lab tests ordered by our clinicians, students who have orders for testing from their personal providers at home can have the testing performed at the Student Health Center and results will be forwarded to the ordering clinician. The Student Health Center has prescription medications available for purchase if prescribed by a Health Center provider.
Medical Evaluation and Treatment
Outpatient care is available on an appointment basis Monday through Friday.
The Student Health Center provides care for sprains, strains, lacerations, contusions and minor fractures.
Minor Surgical Procedures
Procedures requiring local anesthesia are performed at the Student Health Center, i.e. treatment of ingrown toenails, wart removal, incision and draining of abscesses, suturing and biopsies.
A registered dietitian (sometimes with a dietetics student or intern from Viterbo University) is available for personalized nutrition counseling. Appointment times vary semester-by-semester, so please inquire at the Student Health Center front desk for the current nutrition counseling schedule.
Each visit is an opportunity for students to be educated about their health, medical care, and lifestyle choices.
The Physical Therapy Department provides evaluation and treatment of acute orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, and conditions which require post-surgical rehabilitation. Crutches, canes, and other orthopedic devices are available.
The Student Health Center provides a wide range of services to students. Some appointment types include: physical exams, acute and chronic illness, pain management, injuries, mental health and dietary counseling.
Radiological services include all non-invasive x-ray based imaging services. A minimal charge is assessed for all services. Students will be informed of this charge prior to any procedures. All other imaging services will be referred to the hospital/clinic of the patient's choice. For more information about our radiological department, please click here.
Research (Clinical Trials)
The Student Health Center participates in ongoing clinical trials sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and supports university research projects. Compensation is available for some clinical trials. Click here or contact the Student Health Center for study information.
Travel or Study Abroad Consultation
Prior to studying or traveling abroad,
students should schedule a travel consultation appointment.
This appointment should be scheduled
at least 6-8 weeks prior to traveling if
possible. The CDC guidelines will be reviewed
and recommendations made (as needed) for immunizations and medications

Same-day appointments and a walk-in clinic are available during regular clinic hours for the assessment and treatment of urgent medical concerns and injuries.
