About Textbook Rental

The Textbook Service provides UW-L students an economical alternative to purchasing textbooks; students rent their texts instead of buying them. The Textbook Service is a book rental system supported by segregated fees and operates within the Division of Student Development. A $78.50 textbook rental fee is included in a full time (12 credits or more) undergraduate students tuition. The fee is reduced for part-time students as outlined in the class schedule brochure. Graduate students pay their fees at the time textbooks are checked out. The current graduate fee is $8.75 per credit up to a ceiling equal to the rate paid by undergraduate students.
Students interested in building a professional library may purchase textbooks at any time, but each semester there is a designated 20% Off discount period. Cancelled classroom book titles are available free of charge on an ongoing basis. Selections vary; check the stacks near the Textbook Service entrance often.
In addition, students may borrow books for short term reference and research, after the third week of classes.
