National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)
The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students. Unlike meetings of academic professional organizations, this gathering of up to 2,000 young scholars welcomes presenters from all institutions of higher learning and from all corners of the academic curriculum.
The Undergraduate Research Committee is committed to providing UW-L students the opportunity to present their research at NCUR each year. The committee has developed a series of guidelines to be used in making such a selection. The guidelines, listed in descending order of importance, are as follows:
i. Students must have presented at the UW-L Celebration of Student Research and Creativity;
ii. Only one author per project will be funded;
iii. Priority will be given to students who have not received funding for travel to NCUR in the past (prior funding does not eliminate students from consideration, but puts them at the bottom of the list);
iv. Priority will be given to seniors, then juniors, then sophmores, then freshmen;
v. After following the above criteria, monies will be awarded so as to maintain fair distribution across deparments using the following guides:
1. Each department which has students applying would get at least one funded slot; and
2. The larger the number of applicants a department has, relative to other deparments, the larger the number of funded travel slots they would be allocated.
Important Dates and Deadlines for NCUR 2010
The 24th National Conference on Undergraduate Research will be held in Missoula, MT at the University of Montana-Missoula. The Undergraduate Research Committee is committed to sending select student investigators from UW-La Crosse.
Abstract submission is now open. The deadline for abstract submission is FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4TH, 2009. Please see www.umt.edu/ncur2010 for more information.
