older): Day trips that are offered to explore and enjoy the
many attractions in and around Wisconsin. Upcoming events are, Spook Cave Trip Come join us as we take a boat trip through a mysterious cave! | Teens on the Town (17 yrs and older): Newer program for anyone under the age of 17 with any type of disability. This is a great program for individuals to socialize and meet new people and have a great time in the La Crosse Area. |

Is a program offered to individuals of any age with any type of
disability. These programs are generally offered for 2-3 hours on
an evening or weekend. | Crazy Crafters Craft Club:
Come explore your crafty side, Monday nights with Amber. She has
come up with some fun seasonal crafts that will make great gifts for
friends and family. The following crafts are ones that everyone
will be able to make and all needed materials will be provided!
Sign-up soon - there are only 20 spots available for each session! | Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts (all ages): These untraditional scout troops are a great environment for fun filled learning and adventure. It is a great opportunity to learn, explore and discover with positive role models. Both Girls and Boys programs are available and meet twice a month for 1 hour meetings. |
| Fishing Club (all ages):
Whether you are an avid angler or just a beginner, the fishing
club provides great fun outdoors. Come join the fun and experience the
excitement of the hunt for "the big one." Dates: Mondays, June 5th, July 10th, August 14th, September 11th Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm Place: Pettibone Lagoon Cost: $2.00 (Make checks payable to La Crosse Special Recreation) Bring: If you have your own equipment you may bring it. If you do not have equipment it will be provided. All bate will be provided. Transportation will not be provided! If you have any questions, please call Kelly at 789-7596. Registration is due back at least 1 week in advance of the program starting. Fishing trip with Herb - Wednesday, June 21st, from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, meet at Black River Beach - Powerhouse landing. |
| "Take Me Fishing":
Hmong Family Fishing Night - Wednesday, June 7, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Pettibone Lagoon. Learn the basics, catch fish, and have fun! Fee: $1.00/ per participant. "Take em Fishing" - Saturday, June 17, 9:00 am - 12:00 Noon, Pettibone Lagoon. Free poles for first 150 youths. Fish, food and fun. Family Fishing Night - Wednesday, June 21, 5:30 - 8:00 pm, at Pettibone Lagoon. Bring the entire family for a night of hands-on fishing fun as a variety or just wet your line to "catch the big one". All equipment and bait provided if needed. Special Recreation Fishing Club - Beginning in June and meets the first Monday of each month at Pettibone Lagoon at 6:30 - 8:00 pm. This program is geared to meet the needs of youth and adults with varying degrees of disabilities. They provide poles, bait and fun! Group Fishing Instruction - This hands-on class will provide participants the opportunity to learn a variety of basic techniques to get them started and help them enjoy this lifetime activity. All poles and bait provided. Call Mike or Jay at 789-7533. Fee is $1.00/ per person. Fishing Pole Rentals - Must call to reserve up to 10 poles. Free usage, however a $10.00 deposit on each pole. |
| HorseSense for Riders (all ages): HSSR offers therapeutic/recreational riding for children and adults with special needs. Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions are available and a separate application is required! Sign up early because sessions fill up fast! |
| Healthy Lifestyle Choices and Fitness Club: City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their first Healthy Lifestyle Choices and Fitness Club class to individuals with disabilities and their families. The emphasis of the class is to learn how to make healthy choices that will benefit you in many ways. You will be doing some stretches and exercises that you will be able to do anywhere and you will also be learning how to make healthy snacks and eat a healthy diet. Everything is provided so all you have to do is show up. The class is on Monday evenings beginning September 12 and runs through December 19th. The time is from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and it is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall. The cost is 2.00 for registration and .50 cents for each class to help cover the cost of snacks, etc. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in - come ready to participate.
