School Counselors
Counselors, other school professionals, and mentors play an important role in the college admissions process. We want you to be able to assist and guide your students through the college search and application process with as much information as possible.
School counselors may be interested in our fast facts about the University, admission guidelines for new freshmen, the majors and programs we have available at UW-La Crosse, our credit by exam policies, helping students arrange a visit to campus, and understanding the steps students should take after they have been admitted to UW-La Crosse.
We receive many questions about credit for college courses taken while a student is in high school. We typically accept these credits from programs such as the College Credit Program (CCP), College in the Schools (CIS), Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP), Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), and Youth Options. We perform the transfer credit evaluations before Freshman Registration, provided the student has submitted an official transcript from the post-secondary institution providing the course for credit. We also accept credit by exam, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate scores.
We will update this page throughout the year with important dates and upcoming events that may be of interest to school counselors. If you are a school counselor and have suggestions for information to be posted on the website, please do not hesitate to contact us!
