Dr. Sloan’s concentration is in the area of American art of the twentieth
century, with a special interest in the interaction between politics and the
visual arts. His doctoral dissertation was entitled “Why Not Revolution? The
John Reed Club and Visual Culture.” He currently has a research grant for a
project entitled “Andy Warhol and the 1960s Crisis of Affluence.”
