UW-L Finishes Eighth at Blugold Open

Colfax, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse men's cross country team placed eighth at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open Friday afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. The Eagles finished with 234 team points while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was first with 75.

St. Olaf College, Minn. was second (78) followed by UW-Eau Claire (85), St. John's University, Minn. (132) and UW-Parkside (179) to round out the top-five. A total of 19 teams competed.

Michael Behringer was the Eagles' top finisher Friday, placing 44th overall with a time of 26:35.76 on the 8,000-meter course. UW-L's Brian Shonat finished 45th (26:38.64) while Josh Kaul was 52nd (26:42.78) and Dan Buvid 55th (26:44.49).

Other competitors for UW-L included: Brian Condon placing 69th (26:52.99), Thomas Reader 79th (26:58.23), Mike Miller 90th (27:07.18) and Seth Webinger 97th (27:17.47).

Dan McAlpine finished 124th (27:38.24), Damian Hilbert 130th (27:41.86) and Dan Rendler 147th (28:03.00). A total of 294 runners competed.
