UW-L Places Third at UW-Whitewater Invite; Four Finishers in Top-Eleven

Whitewater, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team placed third at the UW-Whitewater Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finished with 54 team points while UW-Platteville won the team title with 31 points and UW-Whitewater was second with 39. UW-Oshkosh finished fourth overall (122 points) followed by UW-Stevens Point (143), Ripon College, Wis. (189), Milwaukee School of Engineering, Wis. (225), Carroll University, Wis. (235) and College of Lake County, Ill. (275).
UW-L had four runners finish in the top-11 Saturday. Kyle Coghlan was the Eagles' top runner, placing seventh overall with a time of 26:52 on the 8,000-meter course. Brian Shonat was eighth at 26:57, Chris Glibert 10th at 27:02 and Josh Kaul 11th at 27:03.
The Eagles had six other student-athlete finish in the top-30 overall. Kaiser Behnke was 18th (27:12), Bobby Laabs 23rd (27:15); Bobby Erickson 25th (27:21); Phill Hernandez 27th (27:25), Dan Buvid 28th (27:25) and Josh Dedering 30th (27:29).
Other finishers for UW-L included Thomas Reader 37th (27:43), Broc Vike 39th (27:51), Mark Punzenberger 44th (28:06); Dayton Lueck 52nd (28:15) and Adam DePaolis 63rd (28:35).
A total of 140 runners competed Saturday.
