UW-L Falls to Regionally Ranked Carleton

Rochester, Minn. - The UW-La Crosse mens tennis team fell to 4-2 on the season with a 9-0 loss to Carleton College (Minn.) Friday night in Rochester. Carleton, ranked seventh in the region, improved to 9-0 on the year.
In singles, Colin Russell defeated Mike Mooren at No. 1 (6-1, 6-4) while Kartheek Koneru beat Joey Van Lieshout at No. 2 (7-5, 6-0). The Knights' Winston Park defeated the Eagles' Dale Wroblewski at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-3) and Peter Varnum defeated Nathan Fekete at No. 4 (6-4, 6-2).
At No. 5 singles, Vince Heguy beat Paul Vickers (6-1, 6-2) while Brendan Cooper defeated Doug Marmar at No. 6 (6-0, 6-2).
In doubles, Park/Russell defeated Van Lieshout/Wroblewski at No. 1 (8-6), Varnum/Koneru beat Fekete/Mooren at No. 2 (8-3) and Cooper/Julian Tokarev defeated Mike Frenzel/Taylor Schliewe at No. 3 (8-6).
UW-L returns to action Thursday, March 6 at St. Mary's University (Minn.) at 4 p.m.
