Wahl Sets Career-High in Win at UW-River Falls

River Falls, Wis. - Lindsay Wahl scored a career-high 27 points as the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s basketball team won its third straight game with a 74-50 victory at UW-River Falls Wednesday night. The Eagles improve to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the WIAC while the Falcons drop to 6-11 overall and 0-8 in the conference.
Wahl, who had finished with a career-high 25 points against UW-Oshkosh January 19, finished 11-of-15 from the field and five-of-six at the free throw line against UW-River Falls in scoring her career-high 27 points. She also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds and had three assists.
The game was tied 16-16 with 10:09 left in the first half when UW-L went on a 16-3 run to end half and lead 32-19. The Eagles were 16-of-23 (69.6%) at the free throw line in the first half, including an 11-of-12 performance from Mackenzie Hunter.
UW-River Falls cut the lead to 32-22 as Lauren Pellowski hit a three-pointer at the start of the second half, but UW-L went on a 16-6 run to lead 48-28 with 14:04 remaining. The Falcons could get no closer than 16 points the rest of the game and the Eagles led by as many as 29.
Along with Wahl's 27 points, Hunter finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Dana Churchill tied for the team lead with eight rebounds while scoring seven points. She also had a game-high seven steals.
UW-L shot 54.3% from the field, including 70.8% (17-of-24) in the second half. The team shot 37.5% (three-of-eight) from three-point range and 70.0% (21-of-30) at the line.
Pellowski led UW-River Falls with 14 points. The Falcons shot 34.0% from the field, including 35.3% (six-of-17) from three-point range. The team was 10-of-13 (76.9%) at the free throw line.
