UW-L Wins Fourth Straight with Victory over UW-River Falls

La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s basketball team earned its fourth straight win with a 69-61 victory over UW-River Falls Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 13-10 overall and 8-6 in the WIAC while the Falcons fall to 7-15 overall and 1-12 in the conference.
UW-L never trailed in Wednesday's contest, hitting 12-of-13 field goal attempts to start the game to lead 24-13 with 10:20 remaining. The Eagles led 30-20 with 3:37 left in the first half before the Falcons cut the halftime lead to 32-26. After missing only one field goal attempt to begin the game, UW-L was one-of-11 to end the half.
The Eagles led by 10 points three different times in the second half, including 51-41 with 8:29 left. UW-River Falls went on a 11-2 run to cut the margin to 53-52 with 6:11 remaining, but UW-L scored six of the next eight points to lead 59-54 with 4:24 left. The Falcons cut the lead to 61-59 with 3:12 remaining, but were held without a field goal the rest of the game. The Eagles finished the game on a 8-2 run, hitting four-of-six free throws in the final :53.
Mackenzie Hunter led UW-L with 16 points while Lindsay Wahl finished with 15. Melissa Lang recorded her first career double-double for the Eagles, finishing with career-highs in points (12) and rebounds (10).
UW-L shot 45.3% from the field and missed both of its three-point attempts. The Eagles were 21-of-26 (80.8%) at the free throw line, including 15-of-18 (83.3%) in the second half.
Caitlin Hunstock and Tess Lardie led UW-River Falls with 16 points each. Lauren Pellowski had a team-high nine rebounds. The Falcons shot 40.7% from the field, including 38.1% (eight-of-21) from three-point range. UW-River Falls was five-of-10 (50.0%) at the line.
