UW-L Eleventh After Second Day of NCAA Championships; Hoff Places Second in 100 Backstroke

Oxford, Ohio - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team is in 11th-place after the second day of competition Friday at the NCAA Division III Championships being held in Miami University's Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. The Eagles have 69 team points. Kenyon College (Ohio) leads the team standings with 389.5 points. Amherst College (Mass.) is in second (255) while Denison University (Ohio) is third (190), Williams College (Mass.) fourth (193.5) and Emory University (Ga.) fifth (190).
UW-L's Chelsea Hoff placed second in the 100 backstroke Friday night (57.09). It is the second individual NCAA III All-America honor of the championships for Hoff, who placed ninth in the 50 freestyle (23.96) Thursday.
Hoff also earned All-America accolades Friday night as the Eagles' 200 medley relay placed 13th overall (1:48.23). She was joined on the relay with Kristi Parker, Brianna Peyer and Clare Hathaway. Hoff now has five career All-America awards (all coming this year).
Parker placed 11th in the 100 backstroke (58.56) Friday for her third career All-America honor in the event. She finished 12th in 2006 and eighth in 2007. Parker now has seven career All-America honors (four in 2008).
The Eagles' 800 freestyle relay also earned All-America honors Friday night as Hathaway, Danielle Rux, Parker and Peyer finished 15th (8:02.92). With their honors this season, Hathaway has five career All-America accolades while Peyer has three and Rux two.
In other action Friday, Peyer placed 23rd in the 100 breaststroke preliminaries (1:07.33).
The top-eight finishers in each event earn All-America honors while the ninth through 16th-place finishers are named All-America Honorable Mention.
