UW-L Continues to Lead After Second Day of WIAC Championships

Oshkosh, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team remains in the lead after the second day of competition at the WIAC Championships at UW-Oshkosh. The Eagles have 632 team points while UW-Stevens Point is second (588) and UW-Eau Claire third (367.5).
UW-Whitewater is fourth (264) followed by UW-Oshkosh (168.5) and UW-River Falls (135).
In Friday's action, Katelyn Hartung and Chelsea Hoff came away with individual titles for UW-L. Hartung captured the 200 freestyle (1:58.33) while Hoff won the 100 backstroke (56.85). Hoff set a WIAC and pool record in winning the 100 backstroke and earned an NCAA Division III "A" qualifying standard for the national championships.
The Eagles' also won the 200 medley relay with Kristi Parker, Brianna Peyer, Hoff and Clare Hathaway (1:48.02). The relay set a pool record and met the national "B" qualifying standard.
Other top finishers for UW-L included the Eagles placing second in the 800 freestyle relay with the team of Hartung, Anita Talavera, Danielle Rux and Hathaway (7:57.18).
Along with Hoff winning the 100 backstroke, UW-L took second, fourth and fifth-place. Parker placed second (57.79) while Elisabeth Misener was fourth (1:01.64) and Jennifer Bryson fifth (1:01.98). Parker earned an NCAA III "A" qualifying standard with her finish in the 100 backstroke.
Peyer finished second (1:07.54) and Melissa Klotz fourth (1:09.00) in the 100 breaststroke with Peyer earning a "B" qualifying time. The Eagles' Bryson was fourth in the 400 I.M. (4:49.88) while Misener was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.41) and Hathaway fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:59.21).
