UW-L Falls to UW-River Falls in Home Finale

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse womens tennis team fell 5-4 to UW-River Falls Tuesday night in Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse. The match was moved inside due to strong winds. In the Eagles' home finale, UW-L drops to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the WIAC. UW-River Falls improves to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
The teams split the six singles matches. Kozue Matsumoto of UW-River Falls defeated Debbie Braun at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0) and Kathryne Ostrowski defeated UW-L's Carlie Bohrman at No. 2 (6-4, 6-1). The Eagles' Katie McDonald defeated Cassie Wood at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3) and UW-L's Sarah Schoenwaelder defeated Mindy Rudiger at No. 4 (6-7, 6-3, 6-3).
At No. 5 singles, the Falcons' Katie Lynn Anderson beat Anna Schmidt (6-7, 6-2, 6-3) while UW-L's Kristen Holle defeated Brittany Bonine at No. 6 (6-4, 6-4).
UW-River Falls took two of three doubles matches. Matsumoto/Ostrowski defeated Bohrman/Schoenwaelder at No. 1 (8-4) and Stacia Kozel/Wood beat Brit Wagner/Kelley McDonell at No. 3 (8-3). UW-L's McDonald/Braun earned the victory at No. 2 doubles over Anderson/Rudiger (8-6).
