UW-L Falls at UW-Stout in WIAC Match

Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse womens tennis team dropped its first match of the season Thursday night with a 5-4 loss at UW-Stout. The Eagles are now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC while the Blue Devils improve to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The teams split the six singles matches. Carlie Bohrman, Katie McDonald and Sarah Schoenwaelder earned wins for UW-L. Bohrman defeated Jodie Czech at No. 2 singles (6-4, 0-6, 6-2); McDonald beat Kiersten Johnson at No. 3 (6-3, 6-0) and Schoenwaelder earned a win over Natalie Hahn at No. 4 (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
Allie Hinman beat UW-L's Debbie Braun at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-2); Michelle Hohl earned the win over the Eagles' Anna Schmidt at No. 5 (6-4, 6-3) and UW-Stout's Sarah Smith defeated Kristen Holle at No. 6 (7-6, 6-4).
The Blue Devils won two of three doubles matches Thursday. Hinman/Hahn defeated Bohrman/Schoenwaelder at No. 1 (8-1) while Johnson/Hohl defeated Braun/McDonald at No. 2 (8-4). The Eagles' Brit Wagner and Kelley McDonell defeated Czech/Lindsey Luberda at No. 3 doubles (9-8).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 6 hosting UW-Whitewater at 9 a.m. and Lawrence University (Wis.) at 3 p.m.
