UW-L Competes at Two Last Chance Meets

La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s track & field team competed at two last chance meets this weekend, seeing action at the non-team scored Karl Schlender Open at UW-Whitewater March 7 and placing sixth out of 13 teams at the Pointer Last Chance Qualifier at UW-Stevens Point March 8.
At UW-Whitewater, Krista Kopetsky and Katie Fondow came away with individual titles. Kopetsky took the long jump (18-1 1/2) while Fondow won the triple jump (37-1 1/4).
The Eagles' Christy Bohl was second in the shot put (43-10) while AnnMarie Glejf was third in the triple jump (36-3). Other top results in field events included Ashton May placing fourth in the long jump (17-9 1/2) and Tina Schmidt finishing eighth in the weight throw (50-2 1/2). Taylor Hoeffert was 12th in the weight throw (42-0) while Amy Holterman placed 17th (33-1 3/4).
On the track, Cassie Grosse was fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.46) while Chris Clausen finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.61).
At UW-Stevens Point, UW-L finished sixth with 34 team points. Glejf won the triple jump (36-5 3/4) and Bohl the shot put (43-0 1/4) while Jamie Scott and Alecia Ellingstad tied for fourth in the pole vault (10-10). Schmidt was seventh in the weight throw (50-6 3/4).
UW-L returns to action Friday, March 14 at the NCAA III Indoor Championships in Ada, Ohio.
