UW-Oshkosh Extends NCAA III Record in Win over UW-La Crosse

La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-Oshkosh volleyball team extended its own NCAA Division III record Wednesday night in a 3-0 (30-26, 30-28, 35-33) victory over UW-La Crosse in Mitchell Hall. The Titans have now won 54 consecutive games, tied for sixth in NCAA history among Division I, II and III schools. UW-Oshkosh set the Division III record September 24 in a 3-0 victory over Beloit College (Wis.).

UW-Oshkosh, tied for seventh in the AVCA Top-25, improved to 18-1 overall and 4-0 in the WIAC with its win Wednesday night. The Titans have also won 18 straight matches. UW-L, ranked 18th in the AVCA poll, falls to 12-3 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC with the loss.

The Titans won the first game 30-26 and the second 30-28 before falling behind 20-13 in game three. They trailed 29-26 in game three, but went on to record a 35-33 victory.

Jacque Ray led UW-Oshkosh with 16 kills while Leah Rosenbuam added 14 and Megan Fischer 12. Leah Stumpf led the Titans with 38 assists while Samantha Schmidt finished with a match-high 28 digs. The team hit .247 as a team.

Katelyn Carlson led UW-L with 15 kills with Amber Schoonover finishing with 14. Schoonover also had 14 digs. Samantha Dries totaled 38 assists and 18 digs. Rosie Rislow and Melannie Tate finished with 15 digs while Brianne Stankus had 14.

The Eagles hit .200 as a team, including .115 in the third game with 17 kills and 10 errors in 175 attempts.

UW-L returns to action Friday, September 28 at the Simpson College (Iowa) Invitational playing Principia College (Ill.) at 3 p.m. and Simpson at 5:15 p.m.
