UW-L Defeats UW-Stout in WIAC Play

La Crosse, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team improved to 17-4 overall and 2-2 in the WIAC with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-28) victory over UW-Stout Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Blue Devils fall to 9-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
UW-L, ranked 20th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association, is now 8-2 at home. Katelyn Carlson led the Eagles with 14 kills while Nina Walch added 13 and Amber Schoonover 10. UW-L finished with a hitting percentage of .330 in the match, including .552 in the second game when it totaled 16 kills, zero errors and 29 attempts.
Samantha Dries led UW-L with 38 assists while Schoonover had a team-high 14 digs. Brianne Stankus added 11 digs and Melannie Tate 10.
The Eagles had 12.0 team blocks with Walch recording 5.0 and Stankus 3.0.
Maggie Meixl led UW-Stout with nine kills while Linda Meyer and Steph Nichols each had eight. Jenna Welsh finished with 25 assists and Casey Huntoon had 14 digs. The Blue Devils hit .130 as a team.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 6 hosting UW-River Falls at noon.
