The UW-L Athletic Trainers' Association By-Laws
BY-LAWS OF THE:
UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - LA CROSSE ATHLETIC TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE I: NAME AND PURPOSE
Section A: Name - The name of this organization shall be known as the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Athletic Trainers' Association (UW-LATA).
Section B: National Affiliation - UW-LATA is not affiliated with any National or State organization.
Section C: Purpose -
To promote Athletic Training on the UW-L campus.
To provide social and professional interaction within the sports medicine field.
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Section A: Eligibility - Membership shall be open to anyone who is in the ESS - Athletic Training academic program, or is a candidate for the program.
Section B: Restrictions -
The members shall be UW-L students.
This organization is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of age, race, color, religion, handicap, national origin, or sex.
Section C: Dues - There shall be an annual due set each ear by the Executive Board, and will be equal to all members.
ARTICLE III: OFFICERS
Section A: Officers - the officers shall consist of a president, two vice-presidents, a secretary, and a treasurer. They shall be known as the Executive Board.
Section B: Eligibility - The Executive Board must be full time UW-L students in the ESS - Athletic Training program.
Section C: Election - The Executive Board shall be elected by simple majority of the membership present when a quorum exists in the second week of April. Election will be by ballot vote. Nominations will be taken the week prior to election.
Section D: Term - The officers shall serve for one year and their term shall commence at the end of the academic spring semester.
Section E: Vacancy - If a vacancy occurs in the Executive Board there shall be a special election within one week of the vacancy. Nominations will be taken from the floor and a general election shall take place by ballot.
ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section A: Duties -
President
Shall preside at all regular and special meetings.
Represent the UW-LATA at University meetings and functions.
Shall appoint committee chairpersons.
Vice-President
Shall be present at all regular and special meetings.
Shall act as presiding officer in absence of President.
Shall conduct all elections and special elections.
Shall issue notice of all UW-LATA meetings and functions.
Shall be in charge of finding guest speakers for the club.
Secretary
Shall be present at all meetings, special and regular.
Record the minutes of all general and special meetings.
Maintain a current roster of membership.
Treasurer
Shall be present at all regular and special meetings.
Receive all funds and pay on the order of the membership or Executive Board.
Keep an itemized account of all receipts and expenditures and make a detailed report at all regular meetings.
Make a yearly audit to the membership in April of each academic year.
Shall be in charge of purchasing and ordering of clothing, gifts for speakers, and miscellaneous items for the UW-LATA.
ARTICLE V: FACULTY ADVISOR
Section A: Selection - There shall be a faculty advisor, who will be selected by the Executive Board, and approved by the membership.
Section B: Duties -
Advise and stimulate interest of the membership in the UW-LATA.
Provide guidance in the development and implementation of programs and activities.
Serve as liaison between the University and the organization. Interpreting, if necessary, University policies or philosophy.
Attend all regular and special meetings and to attend Executive Committee meetings.
ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Section A: Responsibility - Management of the UW-LATA shall be vested in this committee, and they are responsible to the entire membership to uphold the By-Laws.
Section B: Membership - This committee shall consist of the officers as listed in Article III, and the faculty advisor as listed in Article V.
Section C: Meetings - The Executive Committee shall meet prior to the first regular meeting of the UW-LATA, and whenever necessary throughout the year to plan the agenda for the following meetings.
Section D: Quorum - A quorum shall consist of 2/3 members of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII: MEETINGS OF THE MEMBERSHIP
Section A: Meetings - The Executive Board will call monthly regular meetings with dates and times posted at least one week in advance of the meeting. These meetings shall be to conduct the necessary business of the club, and to have a presentation or guest speaker.
Section B: Special Meetings -
May be called by the Executive Board.
May be called by the President at the request of any member.
Section C: Quorum - A quorum shall consist of 1/2 of the members in good standing.
Section D: Parliamentary Authority - Robert's Rule of Order Newly Revised, shall govern the organization in all cases to which they are applicable, and in which they are not inconsistent with the By-Laws.
ARTICLE VIII: AMENDMENTS
Section A: Vote - These By-Laws may be amended by a 2/3 majority vote of the members in good standing.
Section B: Notice - All members shall receive advance notice of the proposed amendments in writing at least five days prior to the meeting of the members.
