Mark H. Gibson - MSEd, MS, ATC, LAT, PT
Director, Undergraduate Athletic Training Program
Mark is the Director of the CAATE-accredited undergraduate
athletic training program, a position that he has held since
1993. Mark served as Head Athletic Trainer at UW-La Crosse
from 1985 to 1993.
Mark earned his bachelor's degree in Health Education / Athletic
Training from
Mark served the National Athletic Trainers' Associaton (NATA) as
District IV Director on the NATA Board of Directors from
2007-2012. He has held leadership positions in the
Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Association (WATA) (1997-2002) and
was the President of the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers'
Association (GLATA) (2004-2006).

Scott T. Doberstein - MS, ATC, LAT
Senior Lecturer/Head Athletic Trainer

Scott joined the professional staff in August 1998 after graduating from UW-L in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education-Athletic Training and School Health Education. After student teaching Health at West Bend West High School, he received his Master of Science degree in Exercise Science at Eastern Illinois University in 1989. For the next nine years, Scott was the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Professor at Millikin University in Decatur, IL. In addition to his athletic and teaching duties, he was the strength coach and the drug education coordinator. In 1998, he returned to his alma mater with his family (wife Caryl, daughters Kylie and Kami, and son, Kellan).
His duties at UW-L include teaching courses in anatomy, injury evaluation, therapeutic modalities, as well as, supervising athletic training students and providing event coverage. His hobby is officiating college women's basketball - on his spare time.
Scott grew up in Germantown, WI and has been a certified athletic trainer since 1987. He is a currently a member of the NATA, GLATA and WATA.

Cordial Gillette -
PhD, ATC, LAT
Senior Lecturer/Clinical Coordinator/Assistant
Athletic Trainer

Cordial joined the athletic training staff in 2003 as assistant athletic trainer. Her responsibilities include athletic training services, coordinating student clinical experiences and teaching various classes, labs, and clinical courses. Cordial is an alumni of UW-L (B.S.), received her master's from UW-Madison and completed her PhD at Capella University. Before returning to her alma mater, Cordial was an Athletic Trainer and Associate Professor at Trinity International University, in Deerfield, Illinois. She returned with her husband, Chuck (also a UW-L alum) and they now have a son, Noah, and two daughters, Lydia and Alida. She enjoys doing crafts in her free time, including knitting, cross-stitch, and sewing to name a few.

Kari joined the athletic training staff at UWL in 2007, but has served as a clinical instructor with the Program since 2000. Her responsibilities include athletic training duties with women's soccer, indoor track and field, and softball along with teaching various classes, labs, and clinicals. Kari is an alumni of UW-L (M.S.).

Christy joined the full time athletic training staff in the fall of 2012 but served as a Fellow AT the previous year.
Naoko Aminaka -
PhD, ATC, LAT
Assistant Professor
Naoko joined the athletic training faculty in the fall of 2012.
She was previously at the University of Toledo, where she taught
in Department of Kinesiology for two years after completing her
M.S. (2006) and PhD (2010) degrees at UT. She graduated from
Central Michigan University with the B.S. in Athletic Training
in December 2002, and worked in Riverside, CA and Akron, OH. Her
research interests are chronic knee injuries including
patellofemoral pain syndrome, and biomechanical alterations in
those with chronic pathologies. Aside from long walks on a
beach, Naoko enjoys many outdoor activities including running,
hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping.
