Dr. Ashley Burrowes Ashley
is an expatriate Kiwi who came to the US to do his doctorate in
accounting and, except for an extended sojourn in Sweden and the
United Kingdom, stayed. A retread, his past experience
includes administrative/financial directorships of industries in
banking, public accountancy (tax and audit), pharmaceuticals,
civil engineering, forestry and biotechnology. Board
memberships have included savings and loans (CEO) and housing
authorities and a college.
Ashley is involved in accountancy education, primarily as
teacher and also as a trainer. He has taught in New Zealand,
United States, Sweden, England and Wales. Also, he has
offered CPE to CPAs in California, Idaho and Sweden, as well as
CMAs in New York. While in California, Ashley taught a CPA
review course.
His teaching interests for 2002-03 year will focus on
accounting information systems and controls and managerial
accounting. His past teaching portfolio includes auditing,
principles of accounting, intermediate accounting, research
methods in accounting and finance, accounting theory and
international accounting.
Ashley has published scholarly works in US and European
academic journals. He has also coauthored best-selling
investment strategy books.
