Dr. Kenneth Winter
Dr. Winter, who came to UW-Lin 1988, is originally from New England. He received his
undergraduate degree in economics from St. Anselm College. He earned an MBA at
Northeastern University where he was a teaching assistant in accounting. He moved to
Wisconsin where he taught for seven years at UW-Rock County and four years at
UW-Whitewater. During this time he was pursuing his Ph.D. in Accountancy at UW-Madison
which he completed in 1988. He is also licensed as a CPA.
Dr. Winter was elected chair of the Department of Accountancy in 1993. His main teaching
responsibility at UW-La Crosse is Intermediate Accounting I. His research interests
include all aspects of individual decision making, including ethical decisions, as well as
financial accounting topics like interest capitalization and post employment benefits.
He is the co-author of Conceptual Practice Approach to
Intermediate Accounting.
