  •   Insurance & Risk Management

The Finance Department also offers occupational opportunities for those who desire to specialize in the areas of insurance and risk management. From property and liability to life and heath insurance the department provides one of the few undergraduate programs in the state of Wisconsin with an insurance concentration. This curriculum prepares students for careers in personal or corporate insurance management, or insurance sales.

Many insurance majors serve semester internship positions with both independent and/or captive agents, or the corporate insurance companies. These internships often result in a full-time employment offer. A brochure with more details is available. Please request a copy, from our department.


  •   Financial Markets

Financial markets are important forums in which suppliers (investors) and users (businesses) of funds are brought together to transfer money from the cash-rich investors to the cash-poor firms. Stock, bond & Wall Street Signoption markets are the preeminent financial markets that exist in most major economies of the world.  Financial intermediaries, such as stockbrokerages and banks, facilitate such transfers at market, or equilibrium price. The market price is contingent upon the diversity of dynamic economic, industry & firm conditions that exist at the time of the exchange. Although individuals are often the original suppliers of funds to the financial markets, their investments are frequently returned with a reward for providing the financing and sharing in the risk of financial insolvency.
