A Few Words on Business Accreditation Organizations

A variety of accreditation agencies exist for higher education.  Some accrediting agencies are general in scope and some are specialized.  At a minimum, reputable universities will be generally accredited by regional and national agencies.  Specific programs within institutions may also have specialized accreditation.  In the U.S., there exist three specialized accrediting organizations for business programs.

AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)   AACSB International is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management. It is the oldest and most prestigious of the accrediting agencies.  Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting.  Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. AACSB International accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education.  It is currently headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.  Both the graduate and undergraduate programs at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s College of Business Administration are accredited by AACSB International.
