Business Accreditation Organizations
A variety of accreditation agencies exist for higher
education. Some accrediting agencies are
general in scope and some are specialized.
At a minimum, reputable universities will be generally accredited by
regional and national agencies. Specific
programs within institutions may also have specialized accreditation. In the
AACSB International - The
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) AACSB International is a not-for-profit
corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted
to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration
and management. It is the oldest and most prestigious of the accrediting
agencies. Organized in 1916, AACSB
International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor's, master's and
doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm
their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and
comprehensive peer review. AACSB International accreditation is the hallmark of
excellence in management education. It
is currently headquartered in
Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
(ACBSP) - The Association of
International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. (IACBE) - IACBE is a specialized accrediting body for business and business-related degree programs in colleges and universities. IACBE is the newest accrediting agency for business schools. It was founded by Dr. John J. Green in 1998, ten years after he founded ACBSP. It is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
