1)
Academic Excellence – Continuous Improvement of
CBA Degree Programs
a)
Assurance of student learning of
integrated knowledge of business for undergraduate students. Responsibility:
CBA UCC.
b)
Assurance of student learning for
mastery of the major. Responsibility: Departments and International Business
Advisory Committee.
c)
Prepare a draft of an honors program
for students of the College of Business Administration. Responsibility: Ad Hoc
Faculty Committee.
d)
Evaluate adding community service as a
requirement for graduation. Responsibility: Dean’s Council and CBA UCC.
e)
Investigate and make recommendations
on the use of the Internet to deliver undergraduate courses. Responsibility:
CBA UCC and the Technology Advisory Committee.
f)
Determine process for assurance of
student learning in CBA minors. Responsibility: Dean’s Council.
g)
Assurance of student learning for the
Graduate Learning Outcomes for the new MBA program curriculum. Responsibility:
Graduate Committee and MBA Director.
h)
Evaluate existing and potential
partnerships in international business. Responsibility: Departments,
International Business Advisory Committee, and Dean’s Council.
i)
Continue to participate in consortium
delivery of the pre-MBA program and in the development of a consortium MBA
program to be delivered via the Internet. Responsibility: Departments, CBA
Graduate Committee, and MBA Director.
j)
Move the MBA program to a
service-based pricing model. Responsibility: Dean, MBA Director, and Graduate
Committee
k)
Review CBA Mission. Responsibility:
Dean’s Council, Faculty, and Student Advisory Council, Business Advisory
Council.
l)
Complete the Academic Program Review
process. Responsibility: Associate Dean and Academic Departments.
m)
Establish academic program priorities
for the next three years. Responsibility: Dean’s Council and Faculty.
n)
Upgrade the teaching podiums in the
CBA classrooms. Responsibility: Associate Dean and the Technology Advisory
Committee.
o)
Prepare a Title VI grant to support
international program activity. Responsibility: Dean, Associate Dean, and
external grant writer.
2)
Student Development – Recruitment, Retention, and Placement
a)
Establish recruiting plans for each
academic program including scholarships, student orientation, and updated web
pages for CBA and departments. Responsibility: Departments, MBA Director and
Associate Dean.
b)
Identify the educational services
desired by underrepresented groups in the region. Responsibility: Business
Development Center and Associate Dean.
c)
Expand the recruitment of
international students. Responsibility: Dean, Assistant to the Dean, and
International Business Advisory Committee.
3)
Faculty Development and Composition
-- Hire and retain a well-qualified and diverse faculty and provide development
opportunities that enhance our faculty
a)
Evaluate departmental probationary
peer review systems by interviewing all probationary faculty members.
Responsibility: Associate Dean.
b)
Support development of human capital,
including paper presentations and other travel, through decentralized budget.
Responsibility: Academic Departments.
c)
Create an environment that fosters a
balance between professional and personal life, connect newcomers to information
and services available for dual-career couples and to flexible employee benefits
such as parental leaves; flexible time limits for tenure; part-time status for
child bearing, child rearing and other family situations; domestic partner
benefits; and child care. Responsibility: Departments and Dean’s Office.
d)
Develop a model for use of “Clinical
Faculty” to enhance the delivery of CBA programs. Responsibility: Dean’s
Council.
4)
Service and College Involvement
a)
Expand the number of programs
delivered to regional businesses that make use of faculty expertise.
Responsibility: Business Development Center and Departments.
b)
Work with other UW-System Campuses to
deliver non-credit seminars targeted to businesses and organizations.
Responsibility: Business Development Center and Dean.
c)
Support regional economic development
initiatives. Responsibility: Business Development Center and Dean
5)
Advancement – Adding a Margin of
Excellence
a)
Update the advancement plan that
identifies priorities for funding needs. Responsibility: Dean’s Council, Pat
Stephens, and UW-L Foundation.
b)
Continue to improve communications
with potential supporters. Continue the Distinguished Lecture Series and
Building Bridges. Responsibility: Departments and Dean with Foundation.
c)
Initiate the Distinguished Visiting
Economics Scholar program in Spring 2004. Responsibility: Dean and Department
of Economics.
d)
Prepare case studies for funding
needs. Responsibility: Dean and Faculty.
