The information below delineates the required and suggested courses needed to complete a biology major at UW-La Crosse with a concentration in aquatic science. Students who pursue a Biology Major with an Aquatic Science Concentration must complete all the core requirements of the Biology Major plus a course in microbiology (including biology electives, a total of 37 biology/microbiology credits must be accrued). Additional
requirements for the Aquatic Science Concentration are a minimum of four courses
in chemistry (a minor in chemistry is commonly recommended), a minimum of two
courses in mathematics (including statistics and applied calculus), and a course
in computer science (unless competence with computers can be
demonstrated). A course in physics is highly recommended.
