Horseshoe crabs are chelicerate arthropods that have changed very little since the Triassic Period over 200 million years ago!  All of the five known species are marine.  Horseshoe crabs lack jaws but have special tooth-like projections on the proximal ends of the first four pairs of walking legs called gnathobases that chew up food and transfer it forward to the mouth.
