ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY RELATED WEBSITES

Here is a variety of Anatomy and Physiology related web sites that may be of some use in studying for Anatomy & Physiology ñ or simply fun to explore.

UWL ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY WEBSITE:

            http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/aplab

(This site is designed specifically for BIO 312 & BIO 313. It contains histology, sheep brain and heart dissections, cat dissections, cadaver dissections; as well as models.)

HISTOLOGY:

            http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/aplab

(This site is designed specifically for BIO 312 & BIO 313.)

            http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/zoolab

(This site is designed for BIO 310, but has histology slides similar to those used in            BIO 312/313.)

http://www.meddean.luc.edu/lumen/MedEd/Histo/frames/histo_frames.html

(This site contains excellent color images as well as practice exams.)

            http://www.udel.edu/Biology/Wags/histopage/histopage.htm

(This site has color histology images, 3D models of tissues & cell structure, plus other web links.)

            http://www.medinfo.ufl.edu/year1/histo/index.html

(This site is a histology tutorial. It includes images of the primary tissues as well as sections from most organs.)

CAT DISSECTION:

            http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/aplab

(This site is designed specifically for BIO 312 & BIO 313.)

            http://www.bhs.berkeley.k12.ca.us/departments/science/anatomy/cat/index.html

(Students in a Human Anatomy & Physiology class at Berkeley High School put together the pages on this site to explain the cat dissection process.)

            http://library.thinkquest.org/15401/learn.html

(There are interactive diagrams of the digestive, urogenital & respiratory systems on this site. There are also quizzes, printable diagrams and definitions in addition to several video clips. Excellent site!)

            http://science.tjc.edu/images/images_in_anatomy.htm

(Excellent site with images of histology, cat dissections and sheep brain            dissection.)

CADAVER DISSECTION:

            http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/aplab

(This site is designed specifically for BIO 312 & BIO 313.)

http://www.lumen.luc.edu/lumen/meded/grossanatomy/x_sec/mainx_sec.htm

(This site contains cadaver sections accompanied by MRI and CAT scan images.)

            http://www.nml.nih.gov/research/visible/visible_human.html

(This is the Visible Human project website.)

            http://www.vh.org/Providers/Textbooks/BrainAnatomy/BrainAnatomy.html

(This site covers the anatomy of the central nervous system.)

OTHER DISSECTIONS:

            http://www.uofs.edu/sheep/ieframerow.html

            (Sheep Brain Tutorial)

            http://www.exploratorium.edu/learning_studio/cow_eye/index.html

(Step-by-step instructions in the dissection of a cow's eye.)

http://www.lumen.luc.edu/lumen/MedEd/GrossAnatomy/learnem/learnit.htm

(An excellent site with pictures and diagrams of nerves, muscles, bones and vessels.)

http://www.users.voicenet.com/~bluesky/dissection.html

(Sheep Brain and Heart, Cow Eye and Others)

QUIZZES & MISCELLANEOUS:

http://perth.uwlax.edu/ereserves/index.html

(This a study guide written by Dr. Brice for the lecture materials on electronic Reserve.)

            http://www.eskeletons.org/

(This is a really cool site that should help you study the bones of the skeleton when you are unable to get in the lab. It allows you to view any bone from any view (e.g. dorsal, ventral, proximal, distal). Each bone is  labeled and you have the option of viewing the articulating surfaces of each bone as well as the origins and insertions of any muscles associated with each bone.)

            http://www.gen.umn.edu/faculty_staff/jensen/1135/webanatomy-

(This site has practice quizzes over all systems.)

            http://www.yucky.com

(Good for a laugh, but not for the weak of stomach!)

            http://www.darwinawards.com

(You won't believe some of these stories!)
