In Marc Eliot’s presentation “What Makes You Tic?” he tells the story of his personal struggles and through them teaches an insightful lesson that all can relate to and benefit from. At age nine he was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome, a condition in which a person has involuntary outbursts or movements, known as tics. Marc’s tics included everything from making random noises and snapping his jaw to shouting out inappropriate words and phrases. This made life difficult as he was often misunderstood and judged by others in public settings and he struggled to live a normal life. He began to control his tics only after understanding to tolerate himself and not worry about what others were thinking. Marc’s experiences have allowed him to understand the importance of tolerance in society and the importance of the idea “live and let live.” He preaches tolerance as the most basic fundamental level of human understanding. For the past three years Marc has spoken and reached out to over 100,000 people nationally and internationally. Marc believes that he has truly found his calling by taking his personal story and showing how he overcame his struggles. He inspires others to exercise patience and understanding regarding this misunderstood condition and the struggles of others.

"The
duo of Travis Thorp and Dustin DeGolier have
been playing music together since they were
seventh graders in 2002, with Nathan Weltzin,
drummer, joining in 2008.
From 2005 to the present, you are sure to find
Trees on the Moon playing for community events
and festivals, private parties, benefits,
dances, and wedding receptions in the greater
Cumberland area.
In 2007, the band made it to finals in Madison,
WI for the Wisconsin Foundation for School Music
contest, Launchpad. Since then, Trees on
the Moon has had a Channel 18 news story done on
them and shown the day of the 2008 Launchpad
regional competition. They then returned to the
Launchpad finals competition in Madison, placing
second with three all new original songs ("All
Aboard", "So Right", and "Spiders"). Shortly
after the Launchpad appearance, Trees on the
Moon was invited to play at the Wisconsin State
Fair in Milwaukee.
