ASHLEY NICHOLAS
Hometown:
La Crosse, WI
UW-L Major/Minor:
Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies
Future Goals/Aspirations:
To live comfortably and constantly be surround by family and
friends until the end. I want to travel, be able to pass on
crazy stories to my offspring, and eventually have something
concrete to show for all the hard work I plan on putting in
during this life!
Favorite Activity/Hobby:
I'm such a sucker for concerts! I've seen hundreds of
performances since I was young and just can't shake the
addiction. Rock, country, hip-hop, electronic, alternative,
classical, etc... I love it all! Being front row or backstage at
one of your favorite band's performances is one of the most
sensational feelings in the world!
Words to Live By:
“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do
justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not
obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to
abandon it.”
-The Talmud
Favorite ATP Memory:
I would have to say it is kind of a tie between a couple of
events. For starters, I have never experienced such energy and
nerves as I did during our very first performance. In terms of
within ATP week and spending time with the group, I enjoyed the
free time we had with one another to really bond, laugh and have
dance breaks! It still amazes me how quickly I felt comfortable
around everyone.
When I think of Awareness through Performance, I think of...
Some of the best college memories I have created so far. I feel
immensely attached to my ATP family and I got to know everyone very
closely in just ONE WEEK! This group is so important to so many of
us and the messages we try to pass on not only affect us, but all of
you as well.
Involvement with ATP has had this impact on me:
I already feel much more confident and able to be my true self
around others. I feel less intimidated by my peers and have
learned to realize that everyone has things they are scared of,
insecure about or nervous to share. I want to be a part of so
many people's lives more and more and help to make a positive
change every day.
