After Graduation…Finding a job outside of the USA

Special thanks to Jessica Ray, UW-L 2003 International Marketing graduate, for her research. Copy edited and updated by UW-L Career Services.

For many recent college graduates, an international career elicits images of a fast paced life filled with glamour and intrigue living outside of the United States. An ongoing practice in the international job market is for entry-level positions to be in locations within the United States, and for mid-level positions to involve travel to other countries. Employees with the most experience or skills receive the overseas assignments. However, the ratification of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and the unification of the European Community (EC), have affected world commerce and expanded employment options for UW-L graduates interested in a job outside of the United States. Positions are available in private companies, international economic development organizations, non-profit organizations, government agencies, schools and through recruiting agencies.
