The Center for Advancing Teaching & Learning (CATL) supports the improvement of teaching and student learning at UW-L. CATL offers opportunities for UW-L instructors to explore and improve their practice. In 2013-2014 these include: 


CATL staff members also consult with individual instructors and groups on a broad range of topics including:

  • using active and group learning techniques

  •  Reducing Stereotype Threat
    in Your Classes

  • integrating appropriate technology
  • strategies to improve student writing and learning
  • writing emphasis courses and writing-in-the-major programs

  • integrating content and teaching practices that promote
    success of all students

  • Learning by Design Program

                In the Learning by Design (LbD)
                Program, instructors redesign one of
                their courses, develop course materials
                and teaching strategies intended 
                to improve student learning.
