Learning by Design Program


       In the Learning by Design (LbD) Program
       instructors redesign one of their courses,
       develop course materials and teaching
       strategies intended to improve student
       learning.

The Center for Advancing Teaching & Learning (CATL) supports the improvement of teaching and student learning at UW-L. CATL offers opportunities for UW-L instructors to explore and improve their practice. In 2012-2013 these include:

    Grants support small groups of instructors to undertake lesson studies in their classes.

  • integrating appropriate technology
  • strategies to improve student writing and learning
  • writing emphasis courses and writing-in-the-major programs

  • the scholarship of teaching and learning
  • grants to support teaching improvement
