The search begins Monday, Oct. 13, 2008. There will be five clues. By 9 a.m.
each day, a clue will be posted on the university’s Web site at
www.uwlalumni.org and on easels in Cartwright Center, the Recreational Eagle
Center, Whitney Center, and the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. Clues will be
posted each day through Friday, Oct. 17, and remain posted until the medallion
is found. The search is open to current students only. The Web site will post
notification when the medallion is found.
General rules
The medallion:
•is located within the boundaries of the university’s campus
•is never buried in the ground
•is never inside a building
•is accessible 24 hours a day
•fits in a person’s hand
•may be camouflaged.
Many of the clues will include campus history. Good sources for campus history
include Professor Emeritus George Gilkey’s book “The First Seventy Years,” the
university Undergraduate Catalog, and other publications in Murphy Library’s
Area Research Center.
The successful seeker must be a current UW-L
student to claim the prize. The student finding the
medallion must return it to the Alumni Director in the Cleary Alumni
& Friends Center during regular business hours, 7:45 a.m.-4:30
p.m. weekdays. Instructions will be on the medallion.
The winner receives a $150 Tower Tender gift card, courtesy of Chartwells,
and must agree to attend the Clock Tower Kickoff Friday, Oct. 17, to be
recognized.
