- Fall Semester Updates/Announcements
- Chem Club Meeting! It will be held on Wednesday November 7th @ 6:30 pm in 252 Cowley Hall. This meeting we will get all of our t-shirt decisions done, take numbers for those who want last year's shirt, and place orders for glassware coffee mugs.
- The chemistry department will be providing tutoring for CHM 103, 104, and 300 at the Math Learning Center in Whitney this year. Talk to Dr. Monte if you're interested in tutoring.
- We will also discuss brownie sales, which will hopefully take place the week after the meeting, and where we will be baking these bad boys. It will be tons of fun, and it'll be a really easy commitment that will earn us some money that we can use for the banquet and field trip coming up second semester.
- Can't get enough of a chemistry fix through Chem Club and your chemistry classes? Then become an ACS student affiliate. Dues
are only $37.00. This includes a weekly subscription to Chemical & Engineering news for one year. Dues for "regular" members are ~$150! there will be the local ACS section meeting on November 15 (7:30 pm) that will be at UWL and is specifically targeted at the student affiliates (e.g. the chem club). The meeting will have 3 graduate students from U of Iowa give brief technical talks on self-assembling organic and inorganic compounds and materials as well as a Q&A grad school discussion.
