Monday |
A
typical day for families of long ago was filled with
hard work shared by all. |
Winter Days in the Big
Woods |
We’ll work together to make butter and enjoy it as a
treat. We’ll
use wash boards to wash clothes and then hang them to
dry. |
|
Tuesday |
Quilts often have special meaning to the people who make
them. Some
quilts tell stories about families. |
The Quilt Story
|
We will take a look at our family quilt squares, look at
some real quilts, tell some stories, and make a large
“quilt” to hang on our wall.
|
|
Wednesday |
In the olden days, people often gathered with friends
and family to dance and sing to fiddle music. |
Dance at Grandpa’s
(A Little
House Book) |
Yee Haw! At
11:00, we’ll have a grand Hoedown!
We’ll sing and dance to fiddle and piano music.
We’ll also enjoy some marble games today. |

Changes to the Environment |
We will add washtubs, drying racks, and a fireplace to
our housekeeping corner.
In the art area we will use chalk/chalkboards and
alphabet stampers.
For sensory play we’ll use corn in the sensory
tub with jars and lids, measuring cups and funnels.
We will add farm animals to the unit blocks for
construction play.
For small motor play we will use the marble
track, “sew” on lacing cards, and make paper dolls.
For large motor play we’ll use bean bags for a
variety of bean bag games:
Hap Palmer’s “Throw the Beanbag,” moving bean
bags on a large spoon from one basket to another, and
bean bag toss. |

Special Notes |
If you’d like to dress as a cowpoke on Wednesday, that
would be great!
The Thanksgiving holiday is a great time for
family gatherings.
We’d love to have more family pictures.
