Special Activities

Monday

Closed for Labor Day Holiday.

Tuesday

We are all special.  We each have a unique body.

“These Are Grandma’s Glasses”
“Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”
“Oh, What a Miracle”

We will use multicultural crayons to draw pictures of ourselves, multicultural colored shaving cream on mirrors to help us make our faces, and a tape recorder to tape our voices.

Wednesday

We each have a special name usually given to us when we are born.

Chrysanthemum
It’s Ok to be Different
We’ll read the stories our parents wrote about how we got our names.

We will decorate our names and make a list of things we feel we do well.

Thursday

We are all unique – we have special attributes.

The Nose Book
“Wiggles”

We will make a group chart comparing eye color, hair color and hair length.  We will also use handprints to make a banner for our group.

Friday

Together we make up Bunny and Ashley’s group!

The Queen’s Feet
“The More We Get Together”

Today we will make a group book of our friends’ faces.  We will write why we are special friends.  We’ll also use fingerprints to make a class picture together as a group.

Changes to the Environment

The dramatic play center will feature the housekeeping corner with multicultural clothing and dolls.  In the art area we’ll use multicultural paper, markers, and crayons.  We’ll use colored pasta with 3-dimensional volume containers for sensory play. For construction play we’ll use connector toys, Mobilos, and unit blocks with people props.  We’ll use the pegboards and puzzles for small motor play. For large motor play we’ll set up some stairs to climb to enter our house and use scarves with music.

Special Notes

Please welcome our new student teacher, Ashley Haese!  Stop by and say “hi” and enjoy her parent letter posted on your child’s locker.  She will be with our group for eight weeks.  I’d like to extend a warm welcome back to CCC – we’re ready for another great year!
