Special Activities

The weather changes in spring.  It starts to get warmer, windy and rainy.

Welcome Spring
“Do You See a Sign of Spring?”

We will go on a buggy ride to look for signs of spring.

Snow and ice melt in the spring.

Spring is Here

We will use colored ice and oil to do an ice melting experiment.

Spring usually has many rainy days.

One Rainy Day
 “One Rainy Day”

We will count raindrops and put them on sticky paper.

Mud is made from dirt and water.

“I Love Dirt”

We will go on a mud color hunt and find things that are brown in our room.

Sometimes it gets windy in the spring.

“Five Little Kites”

We will decorate paper kites with colorful stickers.

Changes to the Environment

The dramatic play area will include “spring cleaning” items: brooms, dustpans, cloths, buckets, sponges, etc.  For art play we will do some water color painting and for sensory play we’ll do some mud play in the sensory table.  We will build with waffle blocks in our construction area.  For small motor play we’ll use some springtime flannel pieces and for large motor play we’ll pretend we are puddle-jumping.
