The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus opens its buildings and other facilities for a variety of Clown Camp® activities. As you walk around the campus, you'll see attractive buildings, and smiling people. All classes are held in air-conditioned buildings. The main instructional building for Clown Camp® is Wimberly Hall. This four story brick building has been used by Clown Camp® for the past twenty-six years. Some classes will be held in Whitney Center, and perhaps Morris Hall, Mitchell Hall, or in Cartwright Center or Graff Main Hall-where stages and theatre seating is available. Frequently you will see classes moving outdoors to enjoy the open spaces available on the campus. Whether participants are polishing juggling skills or trying to master water spitting, you'll find pleasant spaces to enjoy your experience.
All buildings are handicapped accessible, and all classroom buildings have elevators.

Instructional Notebook
Each participant who attends Clown Camp® receives a three ring binder notebook. The notebook, which contains over one hundred of pages of useful information, is distributed at the time of on-site registration at the university. Of course the comprehensive schedule, with room numbers is included, as well as a rundown on each of the instructors and staff members.
Of major importance is the section describing each of the program's class or course offerings. A sample page, which you can view, includes the class name, who the class is for, what are the objectives, and the course/class outline. Before even going to a class, a participant can read about any class and determine if it is something that interests them.
The notebook contains:
- Table of Contents
- Weekly Schedule
- Class outlines and descriptions
- Names, clown biographies and addresses of all instructors
- Instructional notes to accompany classes and courses

Program Highlights
Each participant attending Clown Camp® 2008 will have the opportunity to select whichever classes they wish to attend. While some classes will have a second and perhaps a third follow-up session, there will not be week-long courses. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend classes that compliment your interests and ability levels.
We are currently working on the 2008 class schedule. At this time we can assure you that over 60 different classes will be offered during the week. And, at least 30 of these will be never before offered selections. (Click here to see a preview of some of these new class offerings.) All registrants will be mailed a copy of the schedule around the middle of April.
Each class period will have four or more class offerings, during each instructional period. If, for example, you have an intense interest in skill development, or caring clowning, you will find that most class periods will contain at least one class to compliment this interest.

It’s Your Face
This is the name of Jim Howle's makeup design experience that we first offered in 1997. It has been so successful that we've brought it back each year since. Participants have the opportunity to make an appointment to have Jim design a clown face for them. The sessions are video taped, and each person receives the videotape and a digital photo of the finished product. In addition, each student receives a half hour introduction to makeup application program on his or her individual tape.
Jim is one of the world's foremost clown artists. His oil painting likenesses of famous, and some not so famous clowns, are exhibited around the world. In this endeavor, his creativity is on display as he generates dozens and dozens of different looks for the vast numbers of campers desiring to have Jim work on their canvas.
This is an extra cost program feature. You will make your appointment at the on-site registration, once you arrive at Clown Camp®. Cost is $40.00 |
