CST 399 Independent Study in Communication Studies (1-3 Credits)
Course description: Directed individual communication studies project under the supervision of a communication studies faculty member. May be a performance-oriented project or a research-based project to bring about a focused scholarly outcome. Project must include a final report as determined through consultation with supervising faculty. Project must be approved and supervised by a department faculty member and have prior consent of the executive committee of the department. Prerequisites: Junior standing. Repeatable for credit - maximum 6.
Instructions: Select a faculty member in the Communication Studies Department who is willing to direct your independent study project; e.g., in the professional activity emphasis areas of Interpersonal Communication, Organizational & Professional Communication, Advocacy & Cultural Criticism, or Broadcast & Digital Communication.
Complete this approval form. Obtain the signature of the instructor who will direct your independent study.
Return this form, along with an current SNAP form, to the program assistant and exchange it for a blue Course Override form for registration into courses that require instructor’s consent. Have the supervisory faculty member sign the form and obtain the CST Department Approval stamp.
Use the blue form to register into the course at the Records and Registration office in Graff Main Hall.
