Intercultural Communication Studies Middle East
After the tragedies of September 11th, the Intercultural
Communication class decided to study the Middle
East. Student groups researched and presented their
findings about Islam, Jihad, and the Holy War, the Taliban,
the problems encountered by Afghan women, and
misconceptions of the United States by persons in Middle
Eastern countries.
Doucette and Maier win debate tournament
The debate class (CST 310) held an in-class tournament
that concluded with a final debate on December 6.
Faculty members and former debate students served as
judges. The debate topic this semester was:
"The U.S. government should more closely regulate the
Internet."
The first place team was Lynnsey Doucette and Maria
Maier. Second place went to Sharon Dati and Jill
Fredrickson. Jill was also named the top individual
speaker of the tournament. Second place went to
Katie Kvam. Kyle Kaufmen finished third, while
Adam Dvorak and Maria Maier placed fourth and
fifth.
