Physical Education Teaching Option

Program Curriculum

The Graduate Physical Education Teaching program is a practitioner-oriented program for physical education teaching professionals seeking additional qualifications and expertise. Students select either the thesis option or non-thesis option. The non-thesis option requires successful completion of a written comprehensive exam. Both options require courses in research and pedagogy as well as electives related to the field of teaching, adaptive physical education or adventure/outdoor physical education.

Elective courses must be related to the field of teaching. A student may select one of the emphases below or a variety of courses offered in Exercise and Sport Science, Health Education and Educational Studies Departments. All electives must be pre-approved by program director. Up to six (6) credits of ESS 560 will count toward this category.
