Art
Continuing Education in the Arts
Exploration, Expression, and Art for Youth and Adolescents
Students entering grades 1-6
In this six week course, students will explore multiple forms of two-dimensional media in making art to express themselves. Each week, students will be introduced to a new media discipline; beginning with drawing, and moving into painting, printmaking, and collage. Students will also be introduced to advanced techniques in each media and encouraged to problem-solve. Along with the introduction of each media, we will look at exemplary works of art by artists such as: Jackson Pollock, Francisco de Goya, Honore Daumier, and Cindy Sherman. Through class discussion, we will talk about expression in art and what makes art expressive. The final class will be used to assemble all course artwork into the form of a book or “visual journal”.
