... and explore innovative ways that students, faculty and staff embed STEM in their work, including research, teaching, field work and outreach programming. Some of the key players in UW-L’s STEM activities include the School of Education (SOE), School of Art and Communication (SAC), College of Science and Health (SAH), Murphy Library and Continuing Education and Extension (CEE). The portal compiles links to a variety of STEM related projects and programs occurring at or through our campus. In addition, see how campus STEM activities engage our local and regional community.

The acronym STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) permeates education from the policy level to PreK-12 classrooms. Although efforts to integrate disciplines have a long history, the National Science Foundation created the acronym STEM in the 1990’s. STEAM stands for the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math. The acronym STEMSS refers to science, technology, engineering, math and social studies. While related, each acronym represents a slightly different perspective in its approach by adding art and social studies respectively to the study of STEM fields. All of these approaches share a fundamental value: the integration of disciplines to increase innovation and aid problem-solving.

If you are working with any STEM, STEAM or STEMSS related projects or programs, please let us know so we may include them here.
