Critical Methods in Wetland Delineation

Purpose:

  • Learn more about the most commonly observed wetland delineation issues to avoid project delays during the regulatory process
  • Refresh your training so you can quickly and effectively apply critical techniques to find and document wetland boundaries
  • Keep your focus on site design and permit outcomes - avoid issues over delineations with local, state or federal agencies or concerned parties
  • Apply the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual

Content:

“Critical Techniques” – While these techniques are among topics covered in Reg IV or similar delineation training, this workshop is a unique opportunity to interact with top experts on the use and documentation of techniques often found at the heart of differences over delineations.

  • Problem and Atypical Site Procedures – what they are;when to use them; offsite techniques for agricultural parcels
  • Hydrology – FAC Neutral Test, when and how to use it;using soil surveys to detect hydrology
  • Soils – evaluating the actual site soil profile
  • Plants – determining dominance; using the 50-20 rule
  • Reports – just as your teachers told you, show your work; common items that cause questions
