This workshop introduces participants to wetland soils fieldwork and the
paperwork that needs to be filed for wetland delineations in relation to the soils
component. Lectures on wetland soils and their identification form the core of this
workshop. It is preferable but not required to take this workshop prior to the Basic Wetland Delineation Training Workshop.
This course is an introduction to the concepts of hydric soils and wetlands. Topics include soil descriptions, wetland chemistry, redoximorphic features and field indicators. Emphasis is placed on identification and writing hydric soil profile descriptions and use of the NRCS field indicators of hydric soils. Participants should have a basic understanding of soil genesis and morphology.
The workshop runs 1:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday and Friday
